After about four years of making do I broke down and bought a chair at one of those big box office stores. A high-back office chair looked so professional that I went with that style. I couldn't afford a leather chair like my dad had, so I went with a fabric-covered chair. I thought I'd really improved my seating arrangement. I had softened the seat, but I wasn't any more comfortable than I had been before. Sure I now had a swivel chair -- unlike any of my dining room chairs that I'd used, but the first one just didn't fit me. I have now been through more chairs I could almost start my own office chair store!
There are two basic designs, one that incorporates a back support and one that is designed to neatly fit under a desk. These chairs are great for those of us that spend long hours in front of a computer or work in a setting where you are going from room to room and need to take the pressure off your feet (like a doctors office). If you don't have one but are interested, we suggest that you find a retailer that sells them and try one out. When you decide that you'd like to purchase one, it is a good idea to check prices on-line as they are often 10% to 30% less expensive and often with free delivery
You'll want a stable, sturdy model that can stand up to spilling, kicking, and regular cleaning for at least a year (some babies can't bear to sit in a high chair after that). A chair with a tray that can be released with one hand is also a plus. Picture your baby occupying your other arm while you're opening and closing the tray; it's just one of the many physical feats you'll be asked to master as a parent.
Chairs have been around for centuries, and only keep getting better. With the incorporation of new materials, technology, and ergonomic design, chairs are not only looking better, they feel much better.
For house or home, Ergonomic Chairs are worth taking a look at. They use to be viewed almost as a piece of medical equipment but are today selling at a rapid pace. If you have ever had back trouble, you know what I mean. These chairs are designed to improve posture and take the pressure off your back and shoulders, giving you a more relaxed seating position. If you think they look bulky, think again, most ergonomic chairs today are designed to fold so that they can be stored in an upright or flat position.
